Our new online program, making our developmental movement education programs available to anyone, anytime and anywhere.
The research is clear: Movement is essential for our children's brain development, physical health, and emotional regulation. The benefits of daily, physical activity are needed now more than ever, with a lifestyle that dominates use of technology and screens. As children have become less active, the need for movement daily and healthy lifestyle is necessary to stop the rise in obesity & other health related conditions, such as diabetes.
Daily movement provides obvious physical benefits such as improved muscular strength & endurance, improved posture & core strength, and improved self-esteem. But not so obvious benefits include better sleep, improved emotional regulation, improvements in sensory processing, quicker mental processing, and many of the cognitive benefits needed for school.
The research also shows that active kids become active adults. It is beneficial to start children young understanding the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Our online movement programs provide the benefit to parents to help guide them in proper movements that will benefit their child's physical body and cognitive mind.
Motor Coordination & Speech: targeted movements help kids coordinate their limbs, laying a foundation for better articulation and control over oral muscles, essential for clear speech. (Sutapa et al., 2021)
Core Strength & Posture: a focus on core strength aids in developing a stable posture, providing the support needed for optimal breath control and effective speech. (Hsu et al., 2018)
Mind-Body Connection: targeted movements promote awareness of body and breath, enhancing attention, learning, and memory - critical for language acquisition. (Bidzan-Bluma et al., 2018)
Sensory Integration: engaging various sensory-motor systems through targeted movements promote sensory integration and aids in receptive language skills. (Wang et al., 2022)
The online program offers a wide variety of sessions with different themes, focus points and age groups in mind.
From strength, to proprioception, to calming, reflex integration & balance. The sessions offer online programs to cover foundational movements to improve development and learning. Research has shown incredible benefits of physical activity for children with neuro-developmental disorders. Benefits range from improving motor skills to social skills, emotional regulation, reducing anxiety, and improving academic performance. The brain relies on a strong body and healthy fuel. Brain healthy lifestyle tips are also included.
A calm nervous system is the first stop towards a calm body & mind.
Children live in a world that is sympathetically-dominant. Stressors from screens, non-stop activities, toxins, and chronic busy-ness, contribute to your child being in a more fight-or-flight state. A build up of energy within the system occurs with added stressors. Children need to move to release this energy. But it all starts with breath.
To be in a state of calm and readiness to learn, children need to feel safe in their environment & their bodies. Calming activities with breath work help to create the optimal environment for your child to learn.
Children with learning, behavioral, and sensory processing challenges have underdeveloped nervous systems. Underdevelopment can make it difficult to sustain attention, concentrate, move easily, socialize, and learn at their optimal. When our "lower level" brain is not fully developed we live in a fight-or-flight state, and do not have complete control over our body. Our cognitive brain is not able to fully develop until the lower level brain does.
Our programs that work on neurodevelopmental movements help to re-build and re-wire the foundations of the brain, through functional movements that we have performed during infancy. These movements range from primitive reflexes to transitional movements and postural stability. Training these movements helps to give the brain the best opportunity for learning and growth.
Good balance is a higher level skill that involves a dynamic balance between multiple sensory systems. Balance engages the proprioceptive, vestibular, and visual systems. Improvements in balance have been shown to improve a child's attention & focus.
We offer specific programs to develop better balance through progressive challenges. Proper balance and coordination both rely on having good body awareness. Body awareness is built through the foundation of the brain which starts with our neurodevelopmental movements, and progresses without balance, coordination, and strength programs.
Proper postural alignment is necessary for optimal brain function. The brain is constantly receiving information from the environment. In order for your child's brain to process these inputs correctly their spine must be aligned properly with their brain & body.
Using our movement programs for strength, balance, and foundational development help to re-train postural muscles. Creating a strong center helps for production of all movement. It also helps improve body awareness when we are grounded in where our body is in space.
